If you have to send something through the mail, you need an envelope. Envelope is a packing product, usually made of paper or cardboard and is intended to pack paper, letter and card and so on. However, when you need to send something that demands a little extra protection, padded envelops come in handy.

Padded envelope is a specialty envelope that has a protective pad inside the envelope. Hence, padded envelopes are ideal for mailing delicate materials that need to be handled with care. Padded mailing envelopes are lined inside either with a recycled cotton product or with a plastic bubble wrap. A padded envelope with cotton fiber liner looks like a mesh of shredded cotton and it provides a soft protection for the contents of the envelope. On the other hand, a padded envelope with a bubble wrap has transparent plastic liner with many air filled pockets. A single layer of bubble wrap inside an envelope provides surface protection to the packed material. No matter what lining they have, padded envelopes have a bulky appearance and one can easily recognize them due to their unique appearance. Irrespective of their lining materials, both of the padded envelopes provide excellent protection to the mail being sent and ensure that all the contents are safe.

One can go green by using recycled padded envelopes, for example; Jiffy padded envelopes. These padded envelopes are made of high quality Kraft paper with recycled paper cushioning. These envelopes are especially useful if you are a businessman. Unlike padded shipping envelopes with bubble wrap, these environment friendly padded envelopes convey the message to the receiver that you care about the nature.

Padded mailing envelopes are made up of high quality, durable material and hence are tear resistant. Most of the padded shipping envelopes have pull and seal closures, which are tamper resistant. Therefore, while sending important documents or other important materials, one can be relaxed knowing that the materials being sent in the padded envelopes are safe. Padded envelopes are ideal packaging products to mail photos, compact discs, important documents, books and so on. However, one should not use these envelopes to send breakable items such as glass or ceramic as padded envelopes do not provide shock and vibration protection. Any heavy impact on these padded envelopes could cause breakage of the fragile material being mailed.

Padded envelopes are available in various sizes from a small post card size to very large envelopes. They are available in various colors as well. However, the most popular colors in the padded envelope category are yellow and gold. Designer padded envelopes are also available in the market. They are slightly costlier than the regular ones. Some of the padded envelopes have printed lines, where one can write the shipping address. One can buy padded envelope as a single envelope or in bulk, depending on the requirement. If you are using padded envelope for personal reasons, then you can buy individual padded envelope depending on the size of the item to be packed. However, if you are a businessman and use these padded envelopes to send across some catalogs or promotional products, then buying them in bulk makes more sense. Padded shipping envelopes are available in post offices, discount stores, grocery shops, office supply stores, wholesale stores as well as in online stores. Some of the online stores offer discount on padded envelopes if bought in bulk.

Padded mailing envelops are the choice of packing products to mail important as well as heavy items. When someone uses padded envelope, he/she will have peace of mind knowing that the receiver will get the mail without any damage to the contents.

Cool info! Using padded envelopes is a good way to protect whatever it is you are mailing from damage. USPS can be brutal to your packages!

Glad to see the information about making your own padded envelopes and the mention of "green" envelopes. Padded envelopes are great for sending CD's or other fragile merchandise and provide great surface protection for the hazards of the post office or UPS, Fed Ex or other delivery services. http://buildsitepro.com/
