How To Make Money From Home
By jazzuboo
Today’s economy has sent many people in search of ways to shore up the bank account. People of all ages and experience levels are now discovering how to make money from home, including mothers wanting to be with their children, people with various physical limitations, or anyone seeking the ability to bring in extra income closer to home sweet home.
Ways to make money from home fall into three categories. These are 1) Telecommuting, which entails doing ones current job from home, rather than a central office with several employees; 2) Offline activities, such as assembly work, clerical assistance, or customer service phone representatives; and 3) Online gigs, like freelance writing or editing, or web-related jobs like programmers, site designers, and help agents.
Telecommuting is popular with both employees and employers. Giving staff the chance to make money from their own homes can also save the boss from high utility bills. If you have the type of job you think you could do from home just as well as the office, check with your supervisor to see if a telecommuting arrangement could be worked out. Tip: If you approach a company with such a proposal, be sure your performance reviews have been stellar. A positive work ethic and attitude gives the boss confidence that you will indeed be able to get the job done without constant supervision.
Offline jobs can be excellent ways to make money working from home. Most small businesses are actually born this way. Take a hobby or passion, such as party planning, and put energy into becoming the best party consultant around, rather than worrying about a long commute or office politics. The difference in focus can produce a fulfilled person making money from home. Tip: It takes a while to get a new business going, so if possible, keep the regular job until the upstart gets off the ground and a steady profit has been made for at least a year.
The introduction of the home computer brought along many new ways for people to make money from within their own four walls. There are literally thousands of administrative assistants, catalog editors, ad designers, book reviewers, medical transcriptionists, and more, making a good living by logging on and doing their thing from the privacy and convenience of their home office.
It is important to keep in mind that the increase in opportunities to make money from home does not give applicants a pass when it comes to skills or work habits. Resumes must still contain solid past work experience and glowing references.
Even though there are plenty of online jobs, they are not all legitimate. For every good story about online work searches, there is a sad one. Spend any time at all looking around the Internet and it will quickly become clear that one must be as careful looking for work online as off.
The best way to start a search for ways to make money from home is to do a Google search for “freelance online work” or “make money working from home.” Tip: Be cautious of companies that require a substantial payment for a list of jobs. You should rarely have to pay to look for chances to work from home.
Learning the ropes of how to make money from home is fraught with obstacles, but the reward is great. There is no better feeling than waking up, having breakfast with the family, getting the office workers and the kids out the door, then padding down the hall in slippers to your home office. With careful planning, it could all become your reality.

jazzuboo, I am lucky to say I make a full-time income at home as a Title Reviewer for Demand Media Studios. I'm extremely grateful for a communications-related position that does not require writing. I enjoy writing the occasional Hub and keeping both of my blogs, but writing full-time for a living just isn't my cup of tea. I've done transcription too. It took a year of research to find online work. It's not easy to locate and you're right, there are plenty of scams out there. There's nothing like the lifestyle of working from home after 20 years in the corporate and restaurant world! Kind Regards
